Twitter and Facebook are all the rage these days, and your experience in the CareFirst Frederick Running Festival posted right to your personal page on these sites.
Marathon, Half Marathon & 5K participants in this year’s race can have reports of their progress automatically “tweeted” at each checkpoint along the course! These updates will include the athlete’s progress and estimated finish time, and can be posted to your Twitter or Facebook status (or both)! Also, text messaging updates are available through Twitter and Facebook.
TweetMyTime is a FREE coutesy of Corrigan Sports and works with the runner’s D-Tag timing device worn on race day by each registered participant to record his or her time. No other equipment is needed.
Once registration forTweetMyTime is confirmed, the program will kick in as soon as the start line is crossed on race day!

Using Text Messages with TweetMyTime Runners who have signed up with TweetMyTime can have their progress sent to their phones. Additionally, people in their social networks can have text messages sent to their phone to follow progress as well.
Please note: text updates will only work if you or the person you wish to follow has signed up for TweetMyTime, and the phone is correctly configured through Twitter or Facebook.
How do I setp up text messaging through Twitter and Facebook? Illustrated Step by Step Instructions
Setting up Twitter Text Messages
- Login to your Twitter account and click on “Settings”
- Click on “Mobile” and follow the directions to add your mobile phone number.
- Once your mobile number has been successful added, go to the profile you wish to receive TweetMyTime updates from and click on the phone icon to receive text messages. Repeat to add other profiles. That’s it!
Note: You can turn it on right before the race and after it’s completed. However, you should confirm that you are receiving updates for the race starts.
Setting up Facebook Text Messages
- Login to Facebook and click on Account and then Account Settings.
- Click on the Mobile tab and follow the steps to add your mobile phone.
- Once your phone is authorized, confirm that you are in Account Settings and are on the Mobile tab. Scroll down the page to the “Whose status updates should go to my phone?” and select “Click Here”.
- Click on the “Create New List” button.
- Add friend(s) to the list who’s TweetMyTime update you wish to receive to your phone.
That’s it!
