Half Marathon

The half-marathon is open to participants at least 14 years of age on race day. Entries will be accepted until the field is filled to 2500 runners. The race will begin and end at the Frederick Fairgrounds. Marathoners and half-marathoners will start and run together for the first 13 miles. The half-marathon course veers off just after the 13 mile mark, and will have its own finish line inside the Fairgrounds.

The Nitty Gritty
The course will close on a continuous pace of 14:00 minutes per mile. Anyone who cannot maintain this pace must move to the sidewalks as the course closes to allow regular vehicular traffic to resume.  Since there are no shoulders on Gas House Pike (mile 9 to 12), police will strictly enforce this pace. Therefore if you have not passed the Wal-Mart (mile 9.75) by 9:05am, you will be forced to stop the race.

The following items are not permitted on the course: pets, skateboards, bicycles, roller blades, baby joggers, and any other type of vehicle (other than official Marathon vehicles). These regulations are for your safety and the safety of the other participants in the race.
